Vimshottari Dasha calculator
Vimshottari is the most widely used timing system in Vedic astrology. The Moon's Nakshatra at birth sets the first Mahadasha; the nine planets then rule periods of 6 to 20 years in a fixed order totalling 120 years, each subdivided into Antardashas and Pratyantardashas.
The calculator shows your full timeline with exact start and end dates, highlights the current period, and lets you pick any future month to see which planets rule it and which transits accompany it.
Interpretation looks at where the dasha lord sits in your chart, its dignity, and the houses it rules, which is why the same Saturn dasha means different things for different people.
Frequently asked questions
How is the first dasha balance calculated?
From how far the Moon has travelled through its birth Nakshatra; the remaining fraction of that star's lord period is the balance at birth.
Is a Saturn or Rahu Mahadasha always bad?
No. A well-placed Saturn or Rahu gives discipline, status and unconventional success. The report scores the dasha lord's placement rather than assuming.
Which dasha year length is used?
365.25 days, the most common convention. Some astrologers use 360-day years, which shifts dates by a few months over a lifetime.
