Vedic astrology, explained simply
Jyotish reads a chart built from the sky at the moment and place of birth. Nine grahas (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu) sit in twelve signs; the Ascendant fixes which sign is the first house, and each house governs an area of life, from self and wealth to marriage, career and liberation.
Timing comes from dashas (planetary periods) and transits (where the planets are now compared with your chart). Yogas are combinations that promise particular results; doshas are afflictions, most of which have cancellations that casual websites ignore.
This site treats astrology as a traditional, reflective framework: calculations are exact, interpretations are traditional, and nothing is presented as a guaranteed prediction or a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Vedic and Western astrology?
The zodiac (sidereal vs tropical), the emphasis on the Moon and Nakshatras, the dasha timing system, and whole-sign houses.
What does the Ascendant (Lagna) mean?
The sign rising on the eastern horizon at birth. It becomes the first house and sets the layout of all twelve houses.
How reliable is astrology?
Astrology is not a scientifically established predictive method. Many people find it a useful traditional lens for reflection; treat its indications accordingly.
