Vedic birth chart calculator
A Vedic birth chart uses the sidereal zodiac, which is offset from the Western (tropical) zodiac by about 24 degrees today. That is why your Vedic Sun sign is often one sign earlier than your Western sign. This calculator applies the Lahiri ayanamsha used by most Indian astrologers.
You get the Rashi chart (D1) plus the Navamsa (D9) for marriage and inner strength and the Dashamsa (D10) for career, along with Hora, Drekkana, Dwadasamsa and Trimsamsa divisional charts.
Birth time matters: the Ascendant changes sign roughly every two hours. The calculator converts your local birth time using the historical time-zone rules for your birthplace, including daylight saving and wartime offsets.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my Vedic sign different from my Western sign?
Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac tied to the seasons; Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac tied to the fixed stars. The difference (ayanamsha) is about 24 degrees, so many people shift back one sign.
How accurate are the planetary positions?
They are computed with an astronomical ephemeris library and agree with professional software to within a few arc-minutes. The chart is also tested against published reference charts.
Do you support South Indian chart style?
Yes, switch between North Indian (diamond) and South Indian (square) styles with one click; both are drawn from the same calculated data.
